AUSTIN, Texas — Cannabis advocates will hold a press conference on Monday in Austin to urge Governor Greg Abbott to veto Senate Bill 3, which proposes a statewide ban on THC products.
The group plans to deliver more than 100,000 petition signatures and thousands of letters to the governor’s office in opposition to the legislation. Senate Bill 3 would prohibit the sale and consumption of THC-infused products, with exceptions for non-intoxicating compounds such as CBD and CBG.
Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick has voiced support for the measure, citing public health concerns related to the use of intoxicating THC products.
Advocates argue the bill could negatively affect Texas’ legal cannabis industry and limit access for patients who use THC for medical purposes.
The press conference aims to raise public awareness and build momentum against the bill’s enactment. As of now, Governor Abbott has not publicly stated his position on the legislation.
