Texas Senate approves bill to establish petroleum theft task force

The Texas Senate has passed Senate Bill 494, which aims to address petroleum theft across the state.

The bill, introduced by Republican Senator Kevin Sparks of Midland, establishes a task force dedicated to investigating and tackling organized oil field theft.

The task force will have a statewide mandate, focusing on the economic impact and operational tactics of petroleum theft.

Its goal is to develop strategies and recommendations to deter future thefts and improve security measures within the industry.

The task force will also propose policy recommendations and legislative measures to strengthen laws and regulations related to petroleum security.
