Lieutenant Governor of Texas, Dan Patrick, has shown support for the construction of a pedestrian bridge in honor of an HISD student who tragically lost their life in a train accident.

Patrick intends to request State Senator Carol Alvarado from Houston to propose a bill in the upcoming legislative session. The bill would aim at constructing the bridge and naming it after the deceased student, Rodriguez.

The Lieutenant Governor has also stated his intention to appeal to state legislators for financial backing for the bridge project.

This request for funding assistance will be made in the event that Union Pacific Railroad does not cover the costs associated with the construction. The proposed project aims to improve safety and memorialize the student.

The incident that sparked this initiative involved a train accident that took the life of the student. This tragedy has raised concerns about pedestrian safety and the need for preventive measures. The proposed bridge is seen as a potential solution to these concerns, offering a safer crossing for pedestrians.
