The Texas House of Representatives held an extended debate session on Friday, resulting in the passage of several bills addressing a range of policy issues.

Among them were measures regulating sexually explicit content in public libraries, expanding access to High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes, and restricting certain additives in school lunches.

One bill focuses on the regulation of sexually explicit materials in libraries, particularly those accessible to children. The legislation introduces restrictions intended to set clearer standards for content available in public spaces.

Another bill allows pregnant women to use HOV lanes by recognizing them as qualifying occupants. Lawmakers said the measure is intended to offer more flexibility and convenience for pregnant commuters.

The House also passed legislation targeting food additives in school lunches. The bill restricts the use of specific ingredients, aiming to promote healthier meals and improve student nutrition in public schools.

These actions came as part of a broader legislative agenda ahead of the session’s end. Lawmakers also debated topics including LGBTQ-related legislation and bail reform, indicating continued focus on a wide range of social and legal issues.

The passage of these bills advances them to the Senate for further consideration, as the Texas Legislature moves to complete its work before the session adjourns.
