State Rep. James Talarico of Austin and U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett of the Dallas area will face each other in a Democratic primary debate for the Texas U.S. Senate nomination on Saturday at 2 p.m., as they compete to challenge Republican Sen. John Cornyn, who currently holds the seat.

The debate will take place this weekend in Texas, where voters will see Talarico and Crockett present their positions and qualifications before the Democratic Party selects its nominee.

The event will focus on determining which Democratic candidate will advance to the general election to run against Cornyn, who has represented Texas in the U.S. Senate since 2002.

Organizers scheduled the debate to give Democratic primary voters an opportunity to compare the two candidates as the party seeks to contest the long-held Republican seat.
