Texas A&M University won its first national volleyball championship on Saturday night, defeating top-ranked Kentucky 3–0 in the title match at a neutral-site arena in the United States.

The championship match began at 7 p.m. local time and ended in three sets, with Texas A&M taking control early in each set and maintaining leads through strong serving, blocking, and defense.

Texas A&M players, coaches, and staff celebrated on the court after the final point as confetti fell and tournament officials prepared the championship trophy presentation.

The Aggies entered the tournament as a lower seed and defeated three No. 1 seeds, including Kentucky, to claim the national title. They won their first top-seeded opponent in the regional final, eliminated another in the national semifinal, and completed the sweep with Saturday’s victory.

In the first set of the championship match, Texas A&M built an early lead and held off Kentucky’s late scoring runs, closing the set with a kill from its outside hitter. The Aggies captured the second set with timely blocks and a service ace, limiting Kentucky’s scoring opportunities. In the third set, Texas A&M maintained pressure through consistent passing and finished the set with two blocks and a kill after Kentucky’s late rally attempts.

The tournament selection committee had named Kentucky the overall top seed following a strong regular season, while Texas A&M entered with a lower seed after a middle-of-the-pack conference finish.

The Aggies advanced through early rounds with four- and five-set victories, setting up their series of wins against the top-seeded teams. Saturday’s victory marked the first national volleyball championship in Texas A&M program history and added a new achievement to the university’s athletic record.
