COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Texas A&M University on Monday named Dr. Angela Wilson as vice president for research to lead the school’s research operations as the institution works to expand interdisciplinary projects and increase external funding.
The university announced the appointment in a written statement issued in College Station. Officials said Wilson will oversee research strategy and coordination among colleges, institutes, and laboratories across the Texas A&M system.
Texas A&M said Wilson will focus on strengthening collaboration among academic departments, research centers, and industry partners to support large-scale research projects.
Officials said Wilson will work with deans and department heads to identify priority research areas that align with national and global needs and major funding opportunities.
Texas A&M said the vice president for research will oversee compliance with research ethics, safety standards, and regulatory requirements for sponsored projects.
Wilson will supervise offices responsible for grant development, research administration, intellectual property, and commercialization, according to the university.
Texas A&M said Wilson will also oversee internal funding programs designed to help faculty prepare competitive grant proposals.
Officials said her role includes supporting student involvement in research and strengthening Texas A&M’s profile as a research institution in Texas and nationally.
