Teneo, a global advisory and consulting firm headquartered in New York, has announced the launch of a new energy and infrastructure practice centered in Houston. This strategic expansion aligns with the firm’s objective to capitalize on Houston’s robust talent pool and dynamic market conditions. The practice will be headed by Bob Zabors and Dan Gabaldon, both of whom are joining Teneo as vice chairmen in the management consulting division. They bring with them extensive experience from their previous roles at Roland Berger, a Munich-based management consulting firm.

Bob Zabors highlighted the significance of this move, emphasizing the dynamic landscape of the energy sector and the myriad opportunities that accompany it. He noted that Houston’s rich history and evolving landscape in oil and gas, capital allocation, and regulatory decisions make it an ideal location for the firm’s newest practice. Teneo’s focus will be on serving large corporations and major investors while staying attuned to breakthrough innovations in the early stages.

The Houston office is still assembling its team, and Teneo is actively recruiting local talent. The firm is also considering acquiring an existing business to solidify its foothold in the Houston market. Zabors mentioned the abundance of skilled professionals in Houston’s top professional services firms and expressed confidence in attracting them to join Teneo. He noted that when individuals transition between firms, they often bring teams with them, and Teneo’s successful track record of acquiring practices will aid in this process.

The precise location of Teneo’s Houston office will depend on how these developments unfold. The firm is keen on establishing a strong presence that leverages Houston’s strategic position in the energy sector.

In addition to the launch of the Houston practice, Teneo has announced a strategic partnership with San Francisco-based Cleantech Group. This collaboration aims to enhance Teneo’s capabilities in identifying and engaging with emerging opportunities within the global innovation ecosystem. Cleantech Group, known for their market intelligence and expert guidance, will provide Teneo with valuable insights and access to exclusive gatherings that foster innovation.

Houston is globally recognized as an energy hub, boasting a significant concentration of energy-related businesses and resources. The city is home to numerous Fortune 500 energy companies, making it a critical location for firms like Teneo seeking to influence the energy transition and infrastructure development. The energy sector in Houston is a key driver of the city’s economy, providing substantial employment opportunities and contributing significantly to economic output.

By opening an office in Houston, Teneo is strategically positioning itself to take advantage of the city’s extensive network in the energy industry, as well as its potential for growth in infrastructure projects. This move reflects the firm’s commitment to fostering innovation and supporting clients in navigating the complexities of the energy sector while contributing to sustainable infrastructure development.

Additionally, Teneo’s collaboration with Cleantech Group underscores the firm’s dedication to adopting and supporting clean technologies. The partnership will facilitate Teneo’s efforts to guide clients through the transition to sustainable energy sources and infrastructure, positioning the firm as a leader in the advisory sector.
