MANILA, Philippines– The Social Weather Stations (SWS) conducted a survey revealing that 50% of Filipino families consider themselves poor.
The survey results, published in October 2025, indicate that this percentage equates to approximately 14.2 million families across the country. This marks an increase from the 49% recorded in June 2025.
The survey categorized 36% of these families as having always been poor, with the remainder classified as either usually poor or newly poor. Additionally, 12% of the families described themselves as borderline poor, while 38% rated themselves as not poor.
Food poverty was also assessed in the survey, with 41% of the families rating themselves as food-poor. The SWS conducted this survey through face-to-face interviews with 1,500 adult Filipinos across various regions in the Philippines.
