From assault to hit-and-run: suspect steals car, injures dog in crash

DALLAS, Texas– Arlington police on Monday arrested a 23-year old man after an incident involving the fatal assault of a 63-year-old woman, the theft of a vehicle, and a hit-and-run crash injuring a dog.

According to police reports, Jacob Arriaga Guerrero allegedly attacked the woman in her home before stealing her car.

After the assault, Guerrero reportedly fled in the stolen vehicle. During his escape, he was involved in a hit-and-run incident where he struck a dog, causing injury.

Authorities quickly responded to the scene, prompting a police search for Guerrero, who was already under surveillance for previous offenses.

Law enforcement officials located Guerrero, who was reportedly wearing an ankle monitor, and took him into custody without further incident.

He faces multiple charges, including one count of collision involving injury, one count of animal cruelty, and one count of theft of a motor vehicle.
