The Supreme Court of the Philippines directed President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and several government officials to respond to a writ of kalikasan concerning flood control projects.

The writ raises environmental concerns tied to ongoing and planned flood control initiatives. The court ordered the respondents, including the Department of Public Works and Highways, to submit their responses.

Petitioners, composed of environmental groups and affected communities, argue that the projects pose serious ecological risks and seek legal protection for the environment.

The Supreme Court stressed the urgency of resolving the matter, noting the potential environmental impact cited in the petition. The directive forms part of ongoing proceedings to evaluate the ecological implications of the flood control measures.
