SEOUL, South Korea — President Yoon Suk Yeol recently issued an apology concerning his unexpected announcement of martial law earlier this week.

This declaration took place on Tuesday evening, marking the first time such a step was initiated in the nation.

Despite facing significant backlash, Yoon refrained from stepping down from his position.

In his address to the public, he expressed regret for the situation but firmly stated that he would remain in office.

The President acknowledged the distress and disruption caused by the imposition of martial law, seeking to assure citizens of his commitment to resolving the current situation.

The President’s apology arrived amidst mounting pressure from various political factions and civilian groups.

A vote to impeach President Yoon was reportedly on the horizon, with opposition parties calling for accountability and transparency in the government’s decision-making processes.

The President’s martial law declaration has also fueled plans for mass street protests in Seoul.
