A fire occurred on a Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) train near Downtown Dallas on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire began as the train exited a tunnel. Six passengers were hospitalized for conditions including anxiety, difficulty breathing, and burns. Officials stated that the injuries were not life-threatening.

Train service in Downtown Dallas was suspended following the incident. DART arranged shuttle buses at multiple stations to transport affected passengers. The suspension disrupted regular commuting routes.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire. Initial reports indicate that the fire may have been accidental. DART personnel and emergency responders were present at the scene and assisted passengers.

Passengers have been advised to monitor official updates and use other transportation options if necessary. DART stated it is taking steps to restore full service and ensure system safety.

The fire has prompted a review of public transit safety procedures. Local agencies are assessing response strategies and infrastructure. DART is coordinating with investigators and will release additional findings when available.

Service restoration updates will be provided through DART’s official channels.
