MANILA, Philippines– Several senators in the Philippines have requested Senate President Chiz Escudero to convene an all-member caucus amidst uncertainties about the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.

Former Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri is among the senators advocating for the caucus.

Zubiri, addressing reporters in a mixed language of English and Filipino during an ambush interview on Monday, emphasized the necessity of the caucus to clarify the Senate’s next steps.

The call for a caucus aims to bring clarity and coordination among the senators regarding the impending impeachment trial.

Senate President Chiz Escudero has not yet publicly responded to the calls for a caucus.

The impeachment trial’s conduct remains a key concern among senators, necessitating a cohesive strategy.
