The Philippine men’s baseball team on Monday defeated Malaysia, 21-0, in five innings at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Pathum Thani, Thailand, to remain unbeaten at 3-0 in the tournament after officials enforced the mercy rule to end the game early.

Philippine batters produced multiple scoring bursts across the first five innings and consistently reached base against Malaysia’s pitching staff.

The Philippine starters limited Malaysia’s offense to no runs and few baserunners, which allowed the game to qualify for an early stoppage under the tournament’s mercy rule.

Coaches of the Philippine team kept their primary rotation on the field through the early innings to protect the lead and maintain the team’s perfect record.

Tournament officials recorded the victory as the Philippines’ third consecutive win in SEA Games 2025 men’s baseball preliminary-round play.

The result kept the Philippines on top of the men’s baseball standings, with remaining games on the schedule to determine semifinal and medal-round placements.

Organizers confirmed that the match met all competition regulations and that the mercy rule application followed SEA Games baseball rules for lopsided scores.

The Philippine delegation staff documented the game for performance analysis as the team prepared scouting reports for its upcoming SEA Games opponents.

Malaysian players and coaching staff held a postgame meeting at the venue to review the loss and plan adjustments for the remainder of the tournament.

Event officials maintained regular security and logistical operations at the Pathum Thani baseball venue before, during, and after the Philippines–Malaysia game.
