MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court of the Philippines on Thursday reported a decline in its case disposition performance for 2025, with the tribunal resolving fewer cases compared to previous years.

According to data released on December 4, the high court posted a 19-percent disposition rate for judicial cases and 27 percent for administrative and bar matters as of September 30, 2025. Both figures fell below the court’s historical performance, the tribunal noted.

The disposition rate was computed by comparing the number of resolved cases to all newly filed and pending cases within the covered period. The Supreme Court said this year’s count includes both fresh filings and long-pending cases.

The high court reported that it continues to receive new judicial, administrative, and bar cases even as it works through its docket. It said internal monitoring systems, along with data from lower courts and court offices, were used to validate and consolidate the figures.

The tribunal added that the statistics were released as part of its year-to-date judicial report and are intended to inform the public and legal community about its adjudicative performance.

Ongoing reforms in case management and court processes aim to improve disposition rates, the Supreme Court said, noting that separate rates are maintained for judicial cases and administrative and bar matters due to their differing case streams.

The high court will release updated and more detailed breakdowns once year-end 2025 data is fully consolidated.
