Vice President Sara Duterte filed a counter affidavit at the Office of the Ombudsman in Manila, Philippines on Friday, in response to allegations detailed in a House of Representatives committee report.

Attorney Michael Wesley Poa submitted the counter affidavit on behalf of Duterte, adhering to the deadline set by the Ombudsman.

Only the first page and the first two paragraphs of the affidavit were available for the media.

The Ombudsman had earlier summoned Duterte, along with former special disbursing officers Edward Fajarda and Gina Acosta, former Education Assistant Secretary Sunshine Fajarda, former Education Undersecretary Nolasco Mempin, and other officials from the Office of the Vice President and Department of Education.

The summons followed the Committee on Good Government’s recommendations to file charges involving technical malversation, falsification of public documents, use of falsified documents, perjury, bribery, corruption of public officers, plunder, betrayal of public trust, and culpable violation of the Constitution.
