A San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) officer has been arrested following allegations of family violence.

SAPD Officer Holvin Perez Ortiz now faces criminal charges related to the incident. The officer has been reassigned to administrative duties pending the outcome of the investigation, a standard procedure in such cases.

The San Antonio Police Chief confirmed that the department is taking the allegations seriously and an internal investigation is underway.

The chief emphasized the department’s commitment to maintaining public trust and transparency while ensuring fairness for all parties involved.

The officer’s arrest followed a complaint from a family member. Local authorities responded to the situation after the alleged victim contacted them, reporting possible injuries consistent with domestic violence.

Family violence includes various forms of abuse, such as physical assault, emotional, financial, and psychological abuse. Domestic violence affects individuals from all walks of life, including law enforcement officers.

The SAPD follows a zero-tolerance policy for domestic violence. The department has protocols in place for handling allegations involving its officers to ensure the integrity of the investigation and to protect victims. Officers found guilty of domestic violence may face disciplinary actions, including termination.

The department works closely with local domestic violence advocacy groups that provide resources for victims, raise awareness, and promote prevention. These organizations also support individuals affected by family violence.

Domestic violence advocacy groups in San Antonio have called for a thorough investigation into the case while emphasizing the importance of supporting the victim. They advocate for ongoing training for law enforcement officers to better handle domestic violence cases.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released further details.
