SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A 3-month-old baby was severely injured in a crash involving an intoxicated driver in Houston.

The incident took place on a busy street when the driver, allegedly under the influence, lost control of their vehicle.

Police responded to the scene and provided initial medical attention to the baby, who was then transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

Authorities have detained the driver, who is suspected of driving under the influence. The driver’s identity has not been released.

Police reports indicate that the driver exhibited signs of impairment at the time of the crash, and field sobriety tests confirmed suspicion of intoxication.

The investigation is ongoing, with officers reviewing evidence from the scene, including surveillance footage from nearby businesses.

They are working to determine the exact cause of the crash and have gathered statements from witnesses to help with the investigation.

The baby’s family has been notified and is with the child at the hospital. Medical professionals have not yet provided detailed updates on the baby’s condition, but initial reports confirm that the injuries are serious. The family is cooperating with authorities.

The driver faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence and causing serious bodily harm. Legal proceedings are expected to follow.
