Binay, co-accused acquitted in P2.2 billion Makati carpark graft case

MANILA, Philippines — The Sandiganbayan acquitted former Vice President Jejomar Binay, his son Erwin Binay, and several co-accused in connection with the P2.2 billion Makati City carpark project.

The court ruled that the prosecution failed to present sufficient evidence to support the charges filed against them. Jejomar Binay faced multiple counts, including malversation, graft, and falsification of public documents, all of which were dismissed.

The Sandiganbayan also acquitted other accused individuals of various charges and dismissed cases against those who have since passed away.
