SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) is alerting residents about a phone scam in which callers impersonate law enforcement officials.
Scammers are reportedly spoofing city phone numbers starting with 210-207, making the calls appear legitimate. Victims are told they are under investigation or have an outstanding warrant and are pressured to send money to resolve the issue.
Police emphasize that these claims are false. Officers will never call to demand payment or request money transfers over the phone.
Residents are advised to:
- Hang up immediately on suspicious calls.
- Avoid sharing personal information.
- Verify calls by contacting official numbers before taking action.
Anyone who believes they have been targeted or victimized should contact SAPD at (210) 207-7273 to file a report.
