SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Gina Ortiz Jones, mayor of San Antonio, Texas, is leading a city delegation to Taiwan to discuss opportunities in advanced manufacturing and potential partnerships with technology companies.

Several members of the mayor’s Economic Security Advisory Group are accompanying the trip, which focuses on promoting San Antonio as a destination for technology and manufacturing investment.

Ortiz Jones said companies often recognize other Texas cities such as Austin, Texas, Houston, Texas and Dallas, Texas but are less familiar with San Antonio. She said the city offers lower business costs compared with nearby Austin.

During the visit, the delegation plans to meet with executives from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, also known as TSMC, which produces advanced semiconductor chips used in industries including artificial intelligence.
