The Salvation Army of Greater Houston and the CMA CGM Foundation will distribute more than 21,000 free holiday meals to families in Houston on Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Salvation Army Aldine Westfield Corps, 2600 Aldine Westfield Road.
Organizers said the distribution will provide 21,600 non-perishable meal boxes under the CMA CGM Foundation’s “Giving Across North America Initiative,” which supports food assistance programs in U.S. communities. More than 50 volunteers from CMA CGM and CEVA Logistics will work alongside Salvation Army staff to hand out boxes directly to individuals and families.
Each box will contain enough ingredients for multiple holiday-style meals, allowing families to prepare food at home. Capt. Jeremy Walker of the Salvation Army of Greater Houston said the event aims to help households struggling with inflation, stagnant wages, and other financial pressures, and that included gift cards can provide additional relief for families with children.
The Salvation Army has operated in Houston and surrounding counties for more than 130 years, offering services such as emergency shelters, social programs, youth activities, and rehabilitation services. The organization conducts seasonal outreach in addition to its regular programs.
