Rosa Rosal, film and charity icon, passes away at 97

MANILA, Philippines — Veteran actress Rosa Rosal, born Florence Danon Gayda, died Saturday, November 15, the Philippine Red Cross confirmed.

Rosal began her acting career in 1945 and became a prominent figure in Philippine cinema. She also worked with the Philippine Red Cross, participating in humanitarian activities and public service initiatives.

The organization did not disclose the cause of her death. Rosal is survived by her daughter, Toni Rose Gayda.

Tributes from the entertainment industry and humanitarian organizations have been shared following the announcement of her death. Rosal received recognition for her contributions to both Philippine cinema and humanitarian work.
