SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Rookie Dylan Harper delivered 20 points and eight assists in his first home game as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Brooklyn Nets 118-107 at the AT&T Center.
The win marked San Antonio’s third straight to open the season, improving its record to 3-0.
Victor Wembanyama led all scorers with 31 points and added 14 rebounds and six blocks. The Spurs played without backup center Luke Kornet and adjusted rotations to cover the gap. The game also marked the franchise’s first home opener without former longtime coach Gregg Popovich on the bench.
The crowd filled the AT&T Center for Harper’s home debut. Harper later described the environment as energetic and stated that the reception contributed to the moment.
The Nets were unable to close the gap in the second half as San Antonio maintained control with contributions from its starting unit and timely defensive stops.
The result reinforced early expectations surrounding the Spurs’ young core. Harper’s playmaking and scoring drew attention from league observers and analysts tracking his transition to the NBA.
San Antonio’s next game is expected to draw further interest as the team attempts to extend its unbeaten run.
