Leyte Representative Martin Romualdez has requested a deferral of his second hearing before the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) on Oct. 22, due to medical reasons.
The hearing, initially set for this date, aims to investigate potential corruption in flood control projects and review Romualdez’s affidavit concerning his involvement in the national budget and related allegations.
Romualdez’s request for postponement stems from his need to undergo a medical procedure at the time of the scheduled hearing.
The ICI Executive Director confirmed receiving the request and stated that the commission will release an official decision on Romualdez’s petition soon.
The first hearing with Romualdez focused on obtaining more information about his alleged role in the infrastructure projects and scrutinizing relevant documents.
The ICI, established to oversee transparency in infrastructure projects, continues its efforts to ensure accountability in government spending.
Martin Romualdez, who recently resigned as House Speaker, maintains his willingness to cooperate with the commission’s inquiries.
