Padilla moves to dismiss impeachment case vs Vice President Duterte

MANILA, Philippines– Senator Robin Padilla, on Monday, filed a resolution to terminate the impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte in the Philippines.

Padilla submitted Senate Resolution No. 1371 at 5:42 p.m. to request the dismissal of the impeachment trial.

His resolution was lodged while senators were debating a motion by Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel.

Pimentel’s motion urged the Senate to convene immediately as an impeachment court.

Padilla noted in his resolution that the House had transmitted the Articles of Impeachment against Duterte to the Senate for trial.
