Boxing legend Ricky Hatton dead at 46

HYDE, England — British boxer Ricky Hatton, a former world champion, was found dead at his home in Hyde, northwest England, on Sunday, Greater Manchester Police confirmed.

The police stated that the death of the 46-year-old is not being treated as suspicious.

Officers responded to a call from a member of the public before arriving at the scene.

Hatton, nicknamed “The Hitman,” held multiple world championships in the light-welterweight division during his boxing career, which lasted from 1997 to 2012. After retiring from professional boxing, he worked as a promoter and trainer.

Tributes from the boxing community are pouring in as the sport mourns the loss of one of Britain’s prominent boxing figures.
