MANILA, Philippines– Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. expressed full support on Thursday for the government’s upcoming rollout of rice priced at P20 per kilo in the Visayas, scheduled to begin in May.

The initiative fulfills a key campaign promise of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to make food more affordable and accessible to Filipino families.

Revilla hailed the program as a major step toward ensuring food sufficiency and security, calling it a fulfillment of the President’s pledge to put accessible food on every Filipino’s table.

He urged the government to expand the program nationwide, highlighting its potential to bring renewed hope to communities and ease the financial burden of rising food costs.

Initially targeting the Visayas region, the rollout aims to gauge effectiveness before possible expansion across the country.

It forms part of the administration’s broader push to stabilize food prices, improve access to essential goods, and uplift living standards.

Revilla’s endorsement reflects growing political support for the initiative and its role in the government’s strategy to address food affordability and strengthen food security in the Philippines.
