MANILA. Philippines– Filipino boxing star Manny Pacquiao, 46, announced Tuesday that he will return to professional boxing to fight World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight champion Mario Barrios on July 19 in Las Vegas.
The bout marks Pacquiao’s first fight since a 2019 loss, ending a four-year hiatus. The former senator and eight-division world champion dismissed concerns about his age, stating he is physically and mentally prepared.
The match will be held at a major Las Vegas venue and is expected to draw significant attention. Barrios currently holds the WBC welterweight title, presenting a notable challenge for Pacquiao’s return.
Pacquiao, who holds 12 world titles across eight weight classes, stepped away from politics to resume training. He is currently preparing for the bout, which is set to be one of the year’s most anticipated boxing events.
