GAZA STRIP — The Israeli military launched a large-scale offensive in Gaza on Saturday, resulting in at least 100 reported casualties, according to local rescue teams.

The military announced the operation, named “Gideon’s Chariots,” through its official Telegram channel. Officials described the campaign as the initial phase of a wider expansion aimed at achieving war objectives, including the release of hostages and the defeat of Hamas.

A separate statement issued in English confirmed the mobilization of ground troops in connection with the offensive.

The operation follows weeks of escalating violence in the Gaza Strip. The renewed military activity has intensified the ongoing conflict and further strained the region’s humanitarian conditions.

Authorities have not provided a detailed timeline for the operation or confirmed the total number of troops deployed.
