MANILA — The Office of the Ombudsman confirmed on Monday that Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla has been cancer-free for 18 months, following public speculation that stemmed from reports of his 2023 blood cancer diagnosis.

A spokesperson said the office issued the statement to clarify the Ombudsman’s health status and to assure the public that physicians declared him cancer-free after treatment.

The office said Remulla continues to perform his duties without impediment and remains active in official functions.

The statement noted that Remulla undergoes regular medical check-ups to monitor his condition. The Office of the Ombudsman said it released the information to maintain transparency and public trust in the agency.
