ARLINGTON, Texas — Six Flags Over Texas will open its new roller coaster, Tormenta: Rampaging Run, on July 9 after delaying its original June 26 debut to complete safety testing and final preparations.
The Arlington amusement park announced the opening date Wednesday. The giga dive coaster replaces the La Vibora roller coaster, which closed in 2024.
Swiss manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard built the attraction, which features a “Running of the Bulls” theme and serves as the centerpiece of the park’s new Spanish-inspired Rancho de la Tormenta area.
According to Six Flags, the coaster stands 309 feet tall and reaches speeds of up to 87 mph. Riders climb more than 300 feet before descending a 285-foot, 95-degree drop.
The park said Tormenta: Rampaging Run is expected to set six world records:
- Tallest dive coaster
- Fastest dive coaster
- Longest dive coaster
- Highest 95-degree drop
- Tallest vertical loop
- Highest Immelmann inversion
Six Flags recently released videos showing the coaster undergoing test runs before its opening.
“Tormenta: Rampaging Run is set to forever change not only the Arlington skyline, but the full lineup of thrills only offered at Six Flags Over Texas,” park president Pete Carmichael said in a statement.
“With the addition of this record-breaking dive coaster, Six Flags Over Texas is a must-visit destination for thrill lovers from all over the world, and we can’t wait for our guests to take their first rampaging run,” he added.
