LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu – On April 10, 2025, former Mayor Paz Radaza, alongside the PDP-Laban Lapu-Lapu City, formally filed a complaint against the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Lapu-Lapu City. The complaint, received by Comelec on April 11, 2025, alleges that the Voters Information Sheet (VIS) distribution has been politicized, thereby compromising the integrity of the electoral process.

This development follows the recent launch of a voter information campaign by Comelec, designed to enhance electoral transparency and voter education. As part of this initiative, Voters Information Sheets have been distributed to voters, containing essential details such as personal information, precinct numbers, voting instructions, and a sample ballot.

The complaint from Radaza and her party emanates from concerns sparked by a viral video circulating online. The video depicts a barangay captain in Olango, leading to suspicions surrounding the fairness and impartiality of the VIS distribution. The complaint explicitly calls for an investigation to address these issues and ensure a fair electoral process.

At this time, Comelec officials have not provided any public statements or comments regarding the complaint. The case is actively under review by the appropriate authorities within Comelec, who are tasked with investigating the allegations and determining any potential breaches in electoral conduct.

The complaint by Radaza and her party underscores the importance of maintaining an unbiased and transparent election process, free from political influence. It serves as a call to action for the electoral body to thoroughly scrutinize the procedures surrounding the distribution of voter information and assure the public of the integrity of elections.

As the complaint progresses through the legal and procedural channels, further actions or responses from Comelec and the involved parties are anticipated. The public and stakeholders await the outcome of the investigation, seeking assurance in the credibility and fairness of the forthcoming electoral processes in Lapu-Lapu City.
