Prosecutors have announced the decision to drop corruption charges against New York City Mayor Eric Adams, following a review by the Justice Department.

The charges were part of an investigation into allegations of corruption related to city contract awards.

Mayor Adams has consistently denied any wrongdoing, with his legal team refuting claims of misuse of power.

The Justice Department’s decision to dismiss the charges comes after a review of the evidence and testimonies collected during the investigation.

According to spokesperson Joel Davidson, the available evidence did not meet the threshold for prosecution.

The department emphasized that the decision was made to preserve the integrity of the judicial process.

Mayor Adams addressed the media following the announcement, expressing gratitude to his supporters and reiterating his commitment to focusing on the city’s pressing issues.

He emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in local government.

City officials, including City Council Speaker Melissa Rodriguez, have acknowledged the decision. Rodriguez reiterated the council’s commitment to ensuring ethical standards in city government.

However, she also emphasized the need for continued oversight and vigilance against misconduct.
