Pope Leo XIV called on young Catholics to become “digital missionaries” during a Mass at the Live Pure Youth Conference held at Santa Pudenziana Church in Rome on August 3, 2025.
Addressing thousands of young pilgrims gathered at the seat of the Filipino chaplaincy in Rome, the Pope emphasized the role of youth in promoting peace and human dignity through the responsible use of technology.
The Mass was led by Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, with Archbishop Rex Andrew Alarcon of Caceres also addressing attendees. Archbishop Alarcon spoke on the importance of humility and cautioned against pride among the youth.
The Live Pure Youth Conference, an annual event, gathers young Catholics from around the world to discuss themes of faith, digital media, service, and global citizenship. This year’s conference included workshops on digital evangelism and the use of technology to spread religious values.
Participants engaged in interactive sessions designed to encourage active involvement in online faith-based communities. The event concluded with renewed commitments from attendees to support digital evangelization efforts within their local and global communities.
