​Philippines observes four-day mourning for Pope Francis

MANILA, Philippines– President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday declared four days of national mourning in the Philippines due to the death of Pope Francis.

The mourning period is effective immediately and will last until April 26, 2025.

The Philippine flag will be flown at half-mast at all government buildings and installations.

Pope Francis died on April 21, 2025.

President Marcos will attend the funeral in Vatican City.

The proclamation emphasizes Pope Francis’s legacy of humility, compassion, and advocacy for social justice.

Pope Francis was recognized as a global leader of compassion and a tireless advocate for peace, justice, and human dignity.
