AUSTIN, Texas- Police have reported a series of gas station robberies that led to a high-speed pursuit through the city.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Alexander Sanabria, is alleged to have been involved in multiple incidents across Austin.
Law enforcement agencies were alerted to a string of thefts occurring at various gas stations in the area. The reports indicated a pattern of robberies that raised concerns among local business owners and residents.
According to Austin Police, the first robbery took place earlier this week at a gas station located in the northern part of the city.
Witnesses at the scene described a man fitting Sanabria’s description entering the store and demanding cash from the clerk.
Authorities were soon informed of similar incidents unfolding at other gas stations throughout the city. The consistency of the suspect’s description across multiple locations led investigators to believe the same individual was responsible for these crimes.
The situation escalated when law enforcement officers attempted to apprehend Sanabria during a routine patrol. Officers recognized the vehicle believed to be associated with the suspect and initiated a traffic stop. Sanabria, however, refused to comply and sped away, prompting a high-speed chase across Austin’s streets.
No injuries were reported during the chase, and authorities confirmed that no weapons were involved in the robberies.
Sanabria faces multiple charges, including armed robbery and evading arrest. Austin Police have urged the public to come forward with any information that might assist in their ongoing investigation.
