PNP Chief Torre says yes to Baste Duterte’s fistfight dare

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Nicholas Torre III has accepted a fistfight challenge from Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, calling it a “charity boxing match” to aid communities affected by recent severe weather.

Mayor Duterte issued the challenge during a public event following a verbal exchange between the two officials. General Torre confirmed his willingness to participate, emphasizing the event’s purpose of supporting relief efforts for those impacted by recent calamities.

Both parties are working with local organizations to organize the match, which has drawn national attention. Proceeds from the event will go toward aid and recovery initiatives in affected areas.

Details regarding the date and location of the boxing match have yet to be finalized. Authorities said additional information will be released once arrangements are complete.
