A family from the Plano Independent School District alleges that their daughter, who has a disability, experienced physical abuse at the hands of a high school teacher.
The child’s mother, Lestia Nelson, reported alarming issues including severe diaper rash and noticeable weight loss in her daughter, Saniyah, who has been diagnosed with GRIN syndrome. These health concerns reportedly arose due to dietary changes at school.
The family placed a recording device in Saniyah’s backpack, which captured concerning audio on January 8. This led them to seek medical attention for their daughter.
In addition, a video from the school revealed troubling behavior by the teacher, which resulted in the teacher’s dismissal.
Plano ISD responded to the situation by stating that they took immediate action. The district emphasized its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its students.
The teacher involved is no longer employed within the district, according to Plano ISD officials.
