WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. has issued an advisory to Filipinos in the United States, warning them about false information circulating online regarding dual citizenship and travel rights.

In an official statement released this week, the Embassy clarified that there have been no changes to U.S. policies affecting Filipino dual citizens or lawful permanent residents. The warning came in response to viral social media posts that have caused confusion and concern within the Filipino community.

The Embassy urged individuals to verify information through official government sources, refrain from sharing unverified content, and report false information to the platforms where it appears.

Officials also emphasized that renouncing Philippine citizenship is a serious and irreversible legal act, and advised against making such decisions based on misinformation.

Filipinos seeking accurate information are encouraged to contact the Philippine Embassy, reach out to the nearest consulate, or consult the Embassy’s official website.
