Houston’s NRG Stadium recorded a significant turnout for the Clásico De México match, showcasing the city’s potential to host large-scale soccer events. More than 54,000 fans filled the stadium on Sunday to watch the intense match between Club America and Chivas de Guadalajara. This event marked one of the largest gatherings for a Liga MX match in both the United States and Mexico this year, as announced by PRIMETIME Sports.

The fierce rivalry between Club America and Chivas attracted passionate fans from both sides. Supporters came prepared with large flags and vibrant displays, transforming the stadium into a sea of colors. The Club America fans, particularly, showcased their enthusiasm with a massive flag featuring a Super Saiyan Goku, a character from the popular anime series Dragon Ball. On the opposing side, Chivas fans did not hold back their fervor either, bringing their own flags and engaging in the lively atmosphere.

During the 83rd minute, some Chivas fans lit red and white smoke bombs, adding an intense visual element to the game. While the smoke momentarily clouded the field, the match continued, with officials cautioning against such items. Shortly following, yellow smoke bombs were seen from the opposite side of the stadium, where Club America fans were situated. Despite these interruptions, the game proceeded without any major hindrances.

Club America secured a victory with a 2-0 scoreline, much to the delight of their supporters. The goals were celebrated with loud cheers and chants, further amplifying the electric atmosphere. Chivas fans, despite the unfavorable outcome, continued to rally behind their team, showing unwavering support throughout the match.

The match not only resulted in a victory for Club America but also served as a testament to Houston’s growing status as a prime location for international soccer events. The city’s capability to host such a large crowd successfully indicates its readiness for future significant soccer tournaments. Houston is set to host the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup and the 2026 FIFA World Cup, further solidifying its position in the realm of global soccer.

PRIMETIME Sports emphasized that this event adds to the list of successful Clásico matches, underscoring the enduring appeal and fanbase of Liga MX in North America. The match’s success at NRG Stadium is seen as a milestone in promoting soccer in the region, encouraging further engagement and investment in the sport.

The event attracted considerable media attention, highlighting both the competitive nature of the match and the vibrant fan culture surrounding it. Images shared by attendees and media outlets captured the energy and excitement of the day, with fans proudly displaying their team’s colors and symbols.
