MANILA, Philippines —The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has increased its coverage for heart-related medical procedures, offering up to P1 million for open heart surgeries.
The new benefits package also includes up to P810,000 for heart valve repair and replacement surgeries.
PhilHealth officials stated that these changes are part of an effort to expand healthcare access and provide financial support to patients facing high medical costs.
Under the new policy, patients undergoing open heart surgery can receive up to P1 million in coverage, including hospitalization, professional fees, and other associated medical costs.
The coverage changes are expected to reduce the financial strain on patients and their families and make treatments more accessible.
PhilHealth has coordinated with hospitals and healthcare institutions to ensure a smooth implementation of the revised benefits.
