MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine government is mourning the death of Leah Mosquera, a Filipino caregiver who died from injuries sustained during Iranian missile strikes in Israel.

Her sister, Mae Joy Mosquera—also a caregiver in Israel—confirmed her passing early today. The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) later released an official statement acknowledging her death and expressing condolences to the Mosquera family.

Leah was working in Israel when the missile attack occurred amid escalating regional tensions. The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is coordinating with Israeli authorities and has pledged support to the Mosquera family.

“This tragic loss highlights the risks faced by overseas Filipino workers in conflict zones,” the DMW said.

The Philippine Embassy in Israel continues to monitor the security situation and is working to ensure the safety of other Filipinos in affected areas.

The Iranian missile attacks have drawn widespread international concern and calls for de-escalation. Philippine officials reiterated their appeal for peace and stressed the importance of safeguarding migrant workers.

Government agencies are reviewing safety protocols for Filipinos deployed in high-risk countries, reaffirming the state’s commitment to protect its citizens abroad.
