The Philippine men’s football team will face Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos in Group B of the ASEAN Football Championship when the regional tournament kicks off in late July 2025, following the official draw ceremony held on Thursday in an undisclosed venue.

Organizers of the ASEAN Football Championship announced that Thailand, the most successful nation in the competition’s history, will join the Philippines, Myanmar, and Laos in Group B after completing the draw that determined the group-stage composition.

The draw placed the Philippines in the same group as Thailand, which eliminated the Filipinos in the semifinals of the 2024 ASEAN Football Championship by a 4-3 aggregate score in a two-legged series.

The 2024 semifinal appearance ended a six-year drought for the Philippines, which last reached the ASEAN Football Championship semifinals in 2018.

Head coach Carles Cuadrat will lead the Philippine men’s team into the 2025 edition of the tournament, where the squad will attempt to at least match its 2024 semifinal finish.

Tournament officials have yet to release the detailed match schedule for Group B, including the specific dates, venues, and kickoff times for the Philippines’ fixtures against Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos.

The ASEAN Football Championship, organized for member associations in Southeast Asia, will feature group-stage matches before progressing to the knockout rounds, where the top teams from each group will compete for the regional title.

The Philippine Football Federation will coordinate preparations and training camps for the men’s national team ahead of the late July kickoff, with final squad selection expected closer to the start of the tournament.

Regional broadcasters and organizers will announce broadcasting arrangements and ticketing information at a later date for fans planning to follow the Philippines’ Group B campaign against Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos.
