Ph consul general meets SMU leaders to boost digital innovation ties

DALLAS — Philippine Consul General Gunther Sales visited the Lyle School of Engineering at Southern Methodist University (SMU) to explore academic and research cooperation, officials said.

Sales met with Lyle’s leadership, led by Dean Nader Jalili, to discuss potential partnerships on digital innovation and workforce development with Philippine academic institutions. Lyle, a nationally ranked private university classified as a Carnegie Research One (R1) institution, focuses on AI-driven research in manufacturing, energy, applied computing, and other disciplines through its centers of excellence.

The visit highlighted opportunities for collaboration in research, technology, and training programs between SMU and Philippine universities.
