MANILA, Philippines– Barangay Ginebra coach Tim Cone expressed optimism for Aljon Mariano as the forward begins a new chapter in his Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) career with Terrafirma Dyip.

The trade, approved on Wednesday, sent Mariano and Maverick Ahanmisi to Terrafirma in exchange for the Dyip’s first-round pick in the 2027 PBA Rookie Draft. Ginebra described the move as part of its long-term strategy to strengthen the roster through future draft opportunities.

Mariano looks to revitalize his career with Terrafirma after several seasons with Ginebra. Cone acknowledged Mariano’s contributions to the team and wished him success in his new journey.

The deal also included Ahanmisi, who had requested a transfer and now reunites with his brother, Jerrick Ahanmisi, a current member of Terrafirma.

Ginebra plans to use the acquired draft pick to develop young talent and prepare for future seasons. Meanwhile, Terrafirma expects Mariano’s experience and versatility to bolster its lineup.
