MANILA, Philippines–The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) postponed the Philippine Cup doubleheader set for Nov. 9, at Ynares Center II in Rodriguez, Rizal, due to the approaching Typhoon Uwan.

The league announced the postponement on Saturday afternoon through its social media pages, citing the safety of fans, players, and team personnel as the main reason for the decision.

Typhoon Uwan is expected to intensify into a super typhoon before making landfall, prompting the PBA to take precautionary measures. The affected games were part of the ongoing Philippine Cup series and considered significant to the tournament standings.

The PBA said it is closely monitoring the weather situation and will announce new game schedules once conditions improve. No rescheduled date has been confirmed.

Authorities have advised residents to take necessary safety measures as Typhoon Uwan continues to move toward the country. The PBA’s decision reflects the broader efforts of organizations adjusting their activities in anticipation of the typhoon’s impact.

The Ynares Center II, a regular PBA venue, will remain closed during the storm. League officials reiterated that protecting the public and ensuring the welfare of everyone involved take precedence over game schedules.

The PBA continues to coordinate with weather and local government agencies as it evaluates future events. Updates on the postponed games will be released once it is safe to proceed.
