MANILA, Philippines– Meralco defeated San Miguel, 100-93, in a hard-fought game on Saturday night at the Candon City Arena in Ilocos Sur, boosting their position in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Cup.

The victory strengthens Meralco’s chances for a twice-to-beat advantage in the upcoming rounds.

The Bolts played a solid defensive game, effectively containing San Miguel’s key offensive players during the final quarter.

Import Akil Mitchell made significant contributions, with Chris Newsome and Chris Banchero also playing pivotal roles in the team’s success.

Newsome’s leadership and Banchero’s steady play helped Meralco maintain their momentum throughout the match.

San Miguel struggled to break through Meralco’s defense, especially in the crucial closing minutes. Despite their efforts, they were unable to overcome the defensive pressure, and the game ended with Meralco securing the win.

Meralco’s coach praised the team’s execution of their game plan and emphasized the importance of maintaining this momentum as they prepare for upcoming challenges.

The win enhances Meralco’s position in the league standings, increasing their chances for a strong playoff seeding.

San Miguel’s coach acknowledged the need for adjustments, expressing confidence that the team would learn from the defeat and be better prepared for future games.
