MANILA, Philippines– TNT Tropang Giga will be without star player Jayson Castro for the remainder of the current Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) season following a knee injury sustained during their semifinal matchup against Rain or Shine in the Commissioner’s Cup.

Team manager Jojo Lastimosa confirmed that Castro, who is known for his leadership and play-making abilities, suffered a full-thickness patellar tendon tear in his right knee during Game 2 of the series, which TNT won.

Following thorough medical examinations, it was determined that Castro’s injury requires surgery and an extended recovery period.

The exact timeline for his return remains uncertain, but the priority is his full recovery before any potential return to the court.

In a statement, Lastimosa expressed the team’s disappointment over the injury, acknowledging the critical role Castro plays for TNT.

“Jayson’s health and recovery are our top priority,” Lastimosa said, emphasizing the team’s commitment to providing the necessary support and care.

Castro’s absence leaves a noticeable void in TNT’s lineup, and the team will need to adjust their strategies.

Castro’s injury will undoubtedly affect TNT’s dynamic, but the team remains focused on adapting to the challenge. The upcoming games will be crucial as TNT aims to maintain its competitiveness and momentum.

While the injury is a significant blow, the basketball community remains hopeful for Castro’s eventual return.

As TNT prepares for the remainder of the semifinals, the team will look to demonstrate resilience in the face of adversity.

This injury serves as a reminder of the physical demands of professional basketball, and how important it is for teams to be prepared for unexpected challenges.
